2007 year in review:

2007 was a good year.  The spring steelheading was as good as it has been in recent memory, though the numbers were down this past fall from what it had been, numbers were still good.  The brook trout fishing on the upper Brule was as good as I can remember with some very nice fish being caught. My personal best was a beautiful brookie pushing 15 inches.  We had a terrific Brown Drake hatch in’07 with a couple of truly fantastic nights and a lot of really good ones.  The hex hatch brought up some huge Browns this year, with several fish over 22 inches being brought to the net.  Night fishing (mousin’) produced good numbers of fish, though the truly big ones seemed to elude us to a certain extent.  The fishing for Migratory Brown trout was better than it had been the past several years, as the numbers from the Wisconsin DNR’s fish count seemed to back up.  One customer hooked the largest Brown I have ever seen.  The ensuing battle left one fisherman and one guide heart broke, we’ll get him next time!
